Water Baptism

At The Father’s House, we believe that water baptism is a moment to celebrate in every believer’s life.

Once you have made the decision to follow Christ, baptism is a great next step.

Water baptism is a public declaration of your faith and symbolizes three things in your life:

1. THAT YOU WANT HIM

Water Baptism symbolizes that you have chosen to make Jesus the Lord of your life. This means you have put your trust in Him as your Savior.

“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” Romans 10:9-10

2. THAT YOU NEED HIM

Water Baptism symbolizes the need for our sin to be washed clean. It represents the truth that our old person is gone, and the new has come.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

3. THAT YOU FOLLOW HIM

Water Baptism is your first act of obedience after putting your trust in Him. When you are baptized with water, you are obeying the words and command of Jesus Christ. Water Baptism symbolizes that you are willing to follow Jesus, and have your life match His will for you.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Jesus sends us out in community to baptism through community within the community of the Trinity- one of your first steps as a believer is to welcome the work of the Trinity- Father, Son, Holy Spirit- one God three persons into your life through water baptism. In fact Jesus modeled the importance of this himself and we simply follow in His steps. What He received we receive today!

"For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.” John 13:15

Baptism is putting the welcome mat out for the fullness of the Trinity to work in our lives.

WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE IN WATER?

The word "Baptism" is a transliteration of the Greek word BAPTIZO which means to immerse. In Hebrew it is referred to as a MIKVEH - an immersion.

You can’t dip your toe into faith- all in as His all is in You

THE DAY OF BAPTISM

2. Invite family and friends to cheer you on

3. Answer two questions as a public confession: When did you give your life to Christ? Why are you getting water baptized today?
